§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will raise with the Soviet Foreign Minister the issues of (a) the United Kingdom and Union of Soviet Socialist Republics' positions with regard to the non-proliferation treaty and (b) compliance by the United Kingdom and Union of Soviet Socialist Republics with the non-proliferation treaty article VI.
§ Mr. LuceWe have held regular consultations with the Soviet Union about nuclear non-proliferation, including the non-proliferation treaty. These have revealed a close identity of views between our two Governments about these important matters. It would not, however, be appropriate to disclose what my right hon. and learned Friend might wish to raise with the Soviet Foreign Minister.
