Sir David Price

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the value of British exports to Argentina in 1980–81 and 1981–82 measured in fixed prices; and what was the equivalent value of Argentine imports for each of the same years.

Mr. Fletcher

The value of United Kingdom exports and imports measured in fixed prices is not available. In the period April 1980 to March 1981, United Kingdom exports in current prices were valued at £155 million and United Kingdom imports at £145 million.

Figures for the corresponding period in 1981–1982 were £105 million and £175 million, respectively.
