Mrs. RenéeShort asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will allocate additional resources to local authorities to enable suitable alternative provisions to be made for those citizens who reside in his Department's resettlement units after the proposed closure.
§ Mr. WhitneyThe regional reviews presently being undertaken involve consultation not only with voluntary organisations but with local authorities and will consider the replacement provision in the light of their findings in a particular area. The review teams will consider proposals coming forward from both the voluntary sector and local authorities before making their recommendations. Details of funding arrangements cannot be finalised until the reports by the regional review teams have been completed.
