§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which schools in the west midlands region contributed to the compilation of information in the report, entitled Foreign Language Performance in Schools, issued recently by his Department.
§ Mr. DunnThe report was prepared by the National Foundation for Educational Research as the result of a sample survey conducted for the assessment of performance unit. As with similar surveys in other areas of the curriculum, schools were invited to participate on the understanding that no information would be passed to the Department or the other funding Departments nor made available for general publication which would allow results to be identified as those of a particular school or pupil.
