HL Deb 22 July 1985 vol 466 c1088WA
Lord Ferrier

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in view of widespread public acceptance of manipulative therapy, they will recognise chiropractic under the National Health Service, and set up a register to enable patients to locate qualified practitioners.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health and Social Security (Baroness Trumpington)

Decisions on the treatment to be provided under the National Health Service are for the clinical judgment of the doctors concerned, within the limits of available resources. The organisations representing chiropractors have made no recent approaches concerning the establishment of such a register.
