HC Deb 04 July 1985 vol 82 c238W
Mr. Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) how many foreign nationals have successfully appealed against the initial refusal of political asylum in each year since 1979;

(2) what, since 1979, has been the average time between the refusal of an application for political asylum in the United Kingdom and the end of appeal proceedings;

(3) what, since 1979, has been (a) the shortest and (b) the longest time between a refusal of an application for political asylum in the United Kingdom and the end of appeal proceedings.

Mr. Waddington

I understand from the appellate authorities that no separate records of asylum appeals are maintained; the information requested is therefore not available.
