§ Mr. David HuntIn a statement to Parliament on 2 July in answer to a question by my hon. Friend on the review of renewable energy by the Advisory Council on Research and Development, I said that my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Energy and I had accepted ACORD's advice to discontinue work on geothermal aquifers in order to concentrate resources into more promising technologies. The programme on geothermal hot dry rocks will continue and will be further reviewed when the present phase of the experiment at Rosemanowes in Cornwall is complete.
