asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations Her Majesty's Government have received from the Government of Argentina concerning the decision to grant a prospecting licence in the Falkland Islands to the First Land Oil and Gas Corporation.

We have now set out our position on Falklands oil exploration in a letter from our permanent representative in New York to the United Nations Secretary-General. This has been circulated as a United Nations General Assembly document, copies of which are being placed in the Library of the House.
