§ Mr. Dubsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why he banned members of the National Union of Mineworkers from attending a meeting of the Society of Civil and Public Servants at his Department on 22 January.
§ Mr. BrittanTaking into account my Department's direct responsibility in relation to the law and order aspects of the miners' dispute, I did not consider it right to allow speakers from outside to address a meeting on this subject on Home Office premises. It is open to the union concerned to arrange wider meetings elsewhere.
