§ Lord James Douglas-Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what reply he has received from teachers' representatives to his proposal that the Scottish joint negotiating committee should conduct a review of teachers' pay and conditions of service within the framework of existing procedures.
§ Mr. Allan StewartI refer my hon. Friend to the reply that my right hon. Friend gave to the hon. Member for Dunfermline West (Mr. Douglas) on 16 January at columns 314–317. My right hon. Friend subsequently received a formal request from the Scottish joint negotiating committee for teaching staff in school education that he should meet a combined deputation from the management and teachers' sides, and he has agreed to do this on 28 January.
