§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what has been the total expenditure upon the market entry guarantee scheme in each of the years since its introduction; and how much of these funds in each of those years was paid to firms operating in the north-west of England.
§ Mr. ChannonThe figures are as follows:

§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will list all those firms which are currently based in the north-west of England which have received assistance under the market entry guarantee scheme in the last year for which details are available.
§ Mr. ChannonApplications for assistance under the market entry guarantee scheme are regarded as being confidential between the Department and firms. It is therefore not possible to provide the names of firms in the north-west. However, 65 firms were offered assistance under the scheme in 1984 and four of them were in the north-west.
