§ Mr. Giles ShawThe BBC's home services grant is determined by deducting the expenses of administering the366W licensing system and investigating complaints of interference to broadcasting from the gross television licence fee revenue. In 1983–84 the total licence fee revenue collected was some £763 million and the grant paid to the BBC £704 million. The major expenses which fell to be deducted from the gross licence revenue in the same year were:
