HC Deb 22 January 1985 vol 71 c416W
Mr. Ashton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many operations have had to be postponed at Bassetlaw district hospital due to a shortage of doctors; and when permission will be given to the hospital to train junior doctors.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

[pursuant to his reply, 21 January 1985, c. 345]: We do not collect detailed local information on numbers of operations postponed and the reasons for their postponement. The hon. Member may wish to seek information from the chairman of Bassetlaw health authority.

The educational approval of hospital posts for the training of junior doctors is a matter for the royal colleges and not for Ministers and the Government.
