HC Deb 14 January 1985 vol 71 c52W
Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what is the cost of a night-time fatality on (a) an unlit part of a motorway and (b) a lit part of a motorway; and what is the cost of a day-time fatality on a motorway.

Mrs. Chalker

The estimated costs per motorway fatal accident in 1983 were £205,730 — daylight — and £179,990—darkness. Separate estimates for night-time accidents on lit and unlit motorway sections are not available.
