Enoch Powellasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland whether the published total of rent arrears due to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive includes sums deemed due in arrears on behalf of its tenants under arrangements with the social security authorities; and what proportion of the total arrears those sums represent.
§ Dr. BoysonI understand from the chairman of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive that about 4 per cent. (£800,000) of the total rent, rates and district heating564W arrears owed by tenants at 30 September 1984 was collected under current arrangements with the Department of Health and Social Services. It had not, however, been paid over to the Housing Executive at that date.
