§ Mr. Dobsonasked the Attorney-General if he will list the books in respect of which prosecution under the Obscene Publications Act has been approved by the Director of Public Prosecutions in each year since 1974.
§ The Solicitor-GeneralThe volume of material referred each year to the Director of Public Prosecutions for consideration of proceedings under the Obscene Publications Act 1959 is such that the information requested by the hon. Member can only be obtained at disproportionate expense. I am aware of the particular items with which the hon. Member is concerned and will write to him about these.
§ Mr. Dobsonasked the Attorney-General how many prosecutions of books under the Obscene Publications Act have been authorised by the Director of Public Prosecutions since 1975 against books listed in the edition of British Books in Print current at the time of prosecution.
§ The Solicitor-GeneralThe records maintained by the Director of Public Prosecutions do not contain the information requested by the hon. Member and it could be provided only at disproportionate expense.
