HC Deb 09 January 1985 vol 70 c501W
Mrs. Ann Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give a breakdown by region of the number of National Health Service beds which are available for (a) patients undergoing artificial insemination treatment and (b) invitro fertilisation treatment.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

Artificial insemination treatment is provided on an outpatient basis. We do not collect information centrally on the number of beds available for invitro fertilisation treatment. It would be unusual for a hospital department to allocate beds exclusively to this one treatment.
