asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will make arrangements to accept oral and written evidence for the four interdepartmental working parties on training 14 to 18-year-olds, small businesses, competition policy and the reduction of controls and regulations.

Mr. Trippier

The four interdepartmental groups, which are being chaired by the Minister without Portfolio, are not taking formal evidence. However, the Minister and his officials in the Enterprise Unit have already been in contact with a wide range of individuals and organisations with an interest in the four topics under discussion. The Minister without Portfolio would welcome further views on these and other aspects of the encouragement of enterprise.
