§ Mr. George Robertsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if, in the light of the work load arising from the COCOM committee, he has any plans to increase the level of staff for trade purposes at the British embassy in Moscow; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RentonThe multilateral forum for the discussion of export control policy matters (COCOM) is based in Paris and the work arising from it is dealt with by staff there, in London and in the capitals of other member states. There are no plans for increasing the staff in the places concerned. COCOM has made no decisions which would necessitate increasing the number of staff engaged in commercial work in Moscow.
