HC Deb 26 February 1985 vol 74 c145W
Mr. Proctor

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many persons are employed by the National Economic Development Council at the latest available date and in each of the past five years; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hayhoe

The number of staff employed by the National Economic Development Council at 31 December 1984 was 209—full-time equivalents. The number at 31 March in each of the past five years was as follows:

Year Staff-in-post
1980 233
1981 223
1982 217½
1983 209
1984 210½

The decrease between 31 March 1980 and 31 December 1984 is 10.3 per cent. Since the peak in NEDO staff numbers in July 1979, the number of staff has fallen by 15.4 per cent.
