HC Deb 25 February 1985 vol 74 cc35-6W
Mr. Meadowcroft

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how large a delegation Her Majesty's Government intend to send to the United Nations decade for women convention at Nairobi; what is the maximum numbr of people Her Majesty's Government are entitled to send; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Renton

The composition of our delegation has not yet been finally decided. It is likely to be similar to that of our delegations to the two previous world conferences of the United Nations decade for women, though there may be some reduction in the number of supporting officials. There is at present no formal limit to the size of delegations nominated by participating countries.

Mr. Ashdown

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) why Her Majesty's Government did not answer questions 3.2–3.3.3 of section D of part I of the United Nations end of decade for women questionnaire;

(2) if he will now answer questions 3.2–3.3.3 of section D of the United Nations end of decade for women questionnaire; if he will publish his answers; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Renton

We were unable to submit our replies to questions 3.2–3.3.3 with our replies to the rest of the questionnaire in February 1984 because some additional research was needed to answer an earlier question in the section. A reply was, however, sent in July 1984. I have arranged for a copy of our reply to section 3 to be placed in the Library of the House.
