§ Mr. David Atkinson
asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will publish the report of the Anglo-French study group on the Channel tunnel as soon as he receives it.
§ Mr. Ridley
The remit of the Anglo-French study group is to advise Ministers on guidelines for prospective promoters. When its report is submitted I will need to consider the draft guidelines with my French counterpart. I will of course ensure that the agreed guidelines are made available to hon. Members; I can not say now precisely when and how.
§ 35. Mr. Teddy Taylor
asked the Secretary of State for Transport if it remains the policy of Her Majesty's Government that any Channel tunnel should be financed entirely from private funds without any aid or guarantees from public funds; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. David Mitchell
The answer to the first part of my hon. Friend's question is yes: this applies to any form of fixed link. As to the second part of the question, I will make a statement at the appropriate time.
