asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps are being taken to control or eradicate the wild cat population on Ascension Island.

The Cats (Ascension) Ordinance 1984 was introduced primarily to control the number of cats imported or brought to the island. A pest control officer has been appointed.

The United States base on Ascension is at present operating a control programme. The RAF is considering similar action.
