asked the Secretary of State for Transport what plans he has to speed up progress on road schemes along the A303.

The six schemes in the White Paper "Policy for Roads in England: 1983" main trunk road programme and reserve list are progressing on target for work to start in the periods indicated. It is not practicable to advance these start dates which take into account the time required to carry out the statutory and other procedures.
