§ 84. Mr. Ron Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent progress has been made in the accession negotiations with Spain and Portugal.
§ Mr. RifkindThe Community and Spain reached agreement on the arrangements for industrial tariff dismantling and Spanish steel restructuring at the ministerial conference on 18 December 1984. The customs union, external relations and European Steel and Coal Community chapters are now near conclusion with both Spain and Portugal.
Negotiations still continue between the Community and the applicants on agriculture, fisheries and social affairs.
