HC Deb 20 February 1985 vol 73 cc502-3W
Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland upon what basis those people who are granted a home help are selected.

Mr. Chris Patten

To ensure that those whose needs are greatest receive the home help service the Department of Health and Social Services has set out in departmental circular HSS(SS)1/80, a copy of which is available in the Library, criteria for assessing need together with a list of groups to whom priority should be given. In the light of these criteria and the finance available it is for boards to decide who should be granted home help.

Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many people are receiving weekly (a) more than 10 hours, (b) five to 10 hours, (c) two to five hours, (d) one to two hours and (e) less than one hour of the time of a home help in each of the health and social services boards in Northern Ireland.
