§ Mr. Meadowcroftasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he has completed his consideration of the more detailed information about levels of expenditure and income of the Association of Community Health Councils; and whether he has reconsidered his decision on funding the association.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeOur view remains that in the long-term the association should be funded from the budgets of its member community health councils. Grants totalling £35,000 have been paid during the current financial year. A further sum of up to £7,500 is available if necessary to clear the association's accumulated deficit and enable it to begin the new financial year on a sounder basis. Representations have been received from the Association about funding for 1985–86, and we are considering them.
