§ Mrs. Virginia Bottomleyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement about the meeting of the European Community Economic and Finance Council in Brussels on 11 February.
§ Mr. LawsonI represented the United Kingdom at this Council.
The Council discussed the financial framework for the guidance section of the European agricultural guarantee and guidance fund over the next five years. This subject was referred back to the Committee of Permanent Representatives for further examination with a view to further discussion at the March Economic and Finance Council. Ministers also discussed tax measures to encourage co-operation between undertakings in different member states.
