§ Mr. Peter Bruinvelsasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will estimate the cost of accidents on non-built up roads in Northern Ireland with (a) speed limits of 60 miles per hour and (b) speed limits of 70 miles per hour; and if, in each case, he will indicate whether the roads or streets are lit or not.
§ Mr. Chris PattenThe information requested could only be provided at disproportionate cost. I can, however, advise my hon. Friend that the total cost of road accidents in Northern Ireland for 1983 is estimated at £57,162,000.
