§ 52. Mr. Hardyasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will take steps to increase the level of investment in housing improvement.
§ Mr. Gow:The Government's public expenditure plans allow for over £3 billion of public sector investment in housing in each of the next three years. It is for local authorities to decide, within the total of resources available to them, what proportion to devote to housing improvement. In the private sector it is primarily the responsibility of owners to keep their own houses in good repair.
