HC Deb 05 February 1985 vol 72 c493W
Mr. Conway

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many cases his Department has rejected for unemployment benefit on the basis of declared part-time employment.

Mr. Alan Clark

No claims to benefit have been rejected by my Department.

During 1983, the latest period for which information is available, 12,171 claims by people undertaking employment of fewer than six days a week were disallowed by the independent adjudicating authorities for the days on which they did not work because they were considered to be employed to their full normal extent (Social Security (Unemployment, Sickness and Invalidity Benefit) Regulations 7(1)(e).).
