§ 52. Mr. Alex Carlile
asked the Attorney-General how many appeals against the refusal of leave to apply for judicial review were heard, allowed and dismissed by the Court of Appeal during the years 1980 to 1984, respectively.
§ The Attorney-General
I regret that no figures are available for 1980 to 1982. In 1983, 27 appeals were 383W heard. 21 were dismissed, three were allowed but the applications were subsequently withdrawn, and no order was made in three cases. In 1984 35 appeals were heard, 31 were dismissed and four allowed, of which in one case the application was withdrawn, one dismissed and two are still pending.
