Mr. Holt

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how much in gross terms has been paid to companies in Cleveland under Government regional grant aid policies in each of the past five years.

The information available in respect of regional grant aid paid to companies in Cleveland county in each of the past five years is given in the following table.

Mr. Holt

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what estimated provision was made for regional grant aid to Cleveland when compiling the Department's annual budget for each of the past five years.

Mr. Trippier

Estimates of the annual spend on regional development grant aid are not made in respect of individual planning regions or counties in England.
