§ Mr. Dobsonasked the Attorney-General if he will provide details of proceedings that have been commenced under sections 1 and 2 of the Official Secrets Act 1911 since 9 February 1983 set out in the manner of appendix II to the Franks report.
§ The Attorney-General[pursuant to his answer, 28 January 1985, c. 37–38]: One further prosecution was commenced in 1984 under section 2 of the Official Secrets Act 1911. A civilian employee of a police force disclosed information obtained from the police national computer to a company trading in burglar alarms.
My answer also erroneously described the prosecution in 1984 of a Foreign Office clerk as arising from the disclosure of minutes written "by her Secretary of State to colleagues" although in fact the minutes were sent to her Secretary of State.
