§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Transport what recent representations he has received about the future ownership and control of Manchester international airport; and what replies he has sent or will be sending.
§ Mr. RidleyApart from my Department's correspondence with the town clerk of Manchester city council (to which I referred in the answer I gave the right hon. Member on 18 December) I have received a number of letters from hon. Members and others about the future ownership and control of the airport, nearly all of which express opposition to Manchester city's proposals for an airport company. In reply we have generally pointed out that these proposals are, in the first instance, a matter for agreement between the Greater Manchester district councils.
