HC Deb 19 December 1985 vol 89 cc242-3W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) whether he will prosecute Associated British Foods under section 243 of the Companies Act for failing to deliver full accounts for the year 1984–85;

(2) whether he will require Associated British Foods under section 447 of the Companies Act 1985 to produce to him all documents relating to its contributions to the Irish Republican Army in 1984;

(3) whether he will prosecute Associated British Foods under section 393 of the Companies Act in relation to information supplied to the company's auditors covering the contributions to Irish Republican Army funds in 1984;

(4) whether he will appoint inspectors under section 432 of the Companies Act 1985 to investigate the affairs of Associated British Foods in respect of illegal contributions to the Irish Republican Army.

Mr. Howard

I have no evidence that full accounts have not been delivered or that false information has been provided to the auditors. I know of no reason to appoint inspectors or to require the production of documents but shall consider any information that the hon. Member may have about the company.
