§ Mr. Speller asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will increase the thermal insulation standards of the building regulations in energy efficiency year.
§ Sir George YoungThe requirements of the regulations, including those for thermal insulation, are under review. The principal aim of the review is to reduce the burden of regulation, but the Government recognise that the building regulations have a role in setting basic standards of cost-effective energy efficiency.
