HC Deb 11 December 1985 vol 88 cc650-1W
Mr. Hicks

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will state the conditions on which Mr. Bob Astles has been granted entry into the United Kingdom; for what length of time; whether any restrictions will apply whilst he remains in the United Kingdom, and if he has applied for his British nationality to be reinstated; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Waddington

We agreed to the admission of Mr. Astles to the United Kingdom because he is entitled to, and has applied for, registration as a British citizen under section 10(1) of the British Nationality Act 1981, and the Home Secretary has no discretion to refuse such an application. He travelled to this country on a declaration of identity issued by our high commission in Kampala. He was admitted for three months in the first instance, without other restrictions.
