HC Deb 04 December 1985 vol 88 c245W
Mr. Wiggin

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what was the total sum of charges to British-based airlines by the Civil Aviation Authority during the last financial year; and what was the cost of the meteorological services included in this charge.

Mr. Michael Spicer

Revenue from charges for air traffic control services supplied by the Civil Aviation Authority totalled £173–2 million in the financial year ending 31 March 1985. Meteorological services included in these charges cost £15.5 million. The exact amount charged to British airlines cannot be calculated except at disproportionate cost. The CAA estimates, however, that about 50 per cent. of the charges were recovered from operators of British registered aircraft.
