§ Mr. Michael McNair-Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what investigations have been carried out by his Department into the incidence of hypercholesterolaemia in the population; and what publicity material has been issued to health authorities and other bodies about the dangers inherent in high levels of raised blood fats.
§ Mr. WhitneyI am not aware of any such investigations. In 1984 the report on diet and cardiovascular disease from the Chief Medical Officer's committee on medical aspects of food policy (COMA), which contains advice to doctors about hypercholesterolaemia, was published by the Department and circulated widely.
