§ The Prime MinisterThe scope for extending metering instead of rateable value as a means of charging households for water supplies is currently being considered by a joint study involving the Department of the Environment and the water industry. In responding to the study's recommendations, the Government will also take account of any relevant proposals which may emerge from the review of local government finance.
