HC Deb 18 April 1985 vol 77 cc235-6W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will provide that in future an appropriate symbol shall be attached in the Supply Estimates to Vote C1 in Class V, 10, and to Vote B4 in Class VIII, 4, to indicate specifically that any unexpended balances of grants in aid made to the national heritage memorial fund will not be liable to surrender to the Consolidated Fund; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Rees

Regrettably the appropriate symbol was omitted in error from the Supply Estimates.

The accounts of expenditure from grants in aid to the national heritage memorial fund are audited by the Comptroller and Auditor General. Any sums in the fund which are not immediately required for any purpose may be invested by the trustees in accordance with section 6 of the National Heritage Act 1980 and are not liable, therefore, for surrender to the Consolidated Fund.
