§ Baroness Burton of Coventryasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether, in elaboration of their reply to Baroness Burton of Coventry's Written Question on 25th March (col. 862) and arising from the complete statement made by Commissioner Clinton Davis, they will list the eight proposals already before the Council of Internal Market Ministers; and whether the draft Directive on package holiday contracts will be added to these eight proposals for early consideration.
§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Lord Lucas of Chilworth)There are at present before the Council rather more than eight individual proposals for Community action. I am, however, led to believe that when Commissioner Clinton Davis made his statement at the Internal Market Council on 11th February the proposals he had in mind were for Directives on product liability, doorstep selling, consumer credit, the price indication of non-food products and toy safety; for a Council decision on a permanent system of surveillance of accidents in the home, and for amendments to existing Directives on the labelling of alcoholic beverages and on the labelling, presentation and advertising of foodstuffs.
I am not aware that a decision has yet been taken by the Commission as to when the proposals for a Directive on package holidays might be put to the Council.
