§ Mr. Irvingasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what agreements have been reached in the Camberwell replacement scheme to provide alternative, suitable accommodation for the varying needs of the resettlement unit residents, with particular reference to the provision of emergency access hostels.
§ Mr. WhitneyUp to 27 March 1984 the Department has agreed revenue funding for 20 voluntary organisations to provide 659 bedspaces under the Camberwell replacement scheme. This provision offers varying levels and models of care which can be broadly categorised as 135 bedspaces for residents requiring high care and 524 bedspaces for residents requiring low to medium care.
We consider that both the London boroughs and voluntary organisations have a role to play on the provision 492W of direct access beds and discussions are taking place towards that end. In addition, 80 direct access beds will be provided in the other London resettlement units.
