§ Mr. D. E. Thomasasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, pursuant to his answer to the hon. Member for Stafford (Mr. Cash) Official Report, 13 March, column 166, whether the forthcoming review conference of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty in September was discussed during his recent visit to Washington; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. LuceThe non-proliferation treaty review conference was not discussed during the recent visit by my right hon. and learned Friend to Washington. However, we hold regular consultations with the United States Government about arms control matters, including the non-proliferation treaty. These talks have revealed a close identity of view about the treaty, and a common determination to support it and to strengthen the non-proliferation regime.
