HC Deb 31 October 1984 vol 65 c1093W
Mr. Maude

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how much land held by the National Health Service is surplus to requirements; and whether he has any proposals to dispose of it.

Mr. John Patten

At 31 March 1984, NHS land holdings in England stood at 48,906 acres. Of these some 4,757 acres had been declared surplus and were awaiting disposal. All regional health authorities have ongoing programmes of land disposal and in the year ending 31 March 1984, 858 acres were disposed of realising £32.4 million.
