asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will provide details by local authority area of the numbers of houses and flats sold since the Housing Acts 1980 and 1984 were enacted, in each year and to date.

The numbers of dwellings sold by individual authorities in the financial years 1980–81 to 1983–84 appear in the quarterly publication "Local Housing Statistics" in issues 62, 63, 67 and 71, respectively. Copies of issue 71 will be placed in the Library tomorrow; the earlier issues are already available there.

I shall write to my hon. Friend about the further details he has requested.
