§ Mr. ButlerThe Ministry of Defence spent the sum of £3,732,000 on the purchase of published reading material during the financial year 1983–84.
This sum takes into account the purchase of all HMSO and commercially published newspapers, periodicals, books, British Standards and other serial items.
All published material is supplied to the staff of the Department for official duties and is purchased for MOD HQ branches and libraries, and for the libraries or the staff of Service Units, R&D Establishments, hospitals, schools and training establishments throughout the world.
