§ Mr. RidleyTampering with the exhaust system of a motor cycle in the way suggested by my right hon. Friend758W is already an offence, and enforcement is a matter for the police. Regulations introduced in May require all replacement exhaust systems for motor cycles first used after 1 January 1985 to bear a British standard marking or a clear reference to their make and type, so as to indicate that the exhaust is appropriate to the machine. The British standard requires exhausts to be tamper-resistant as far as is compatible with maintenance and installation requirements.
