HC Deb 26 October 1984 vol 65 cc737-8W
Sir Hector Monro

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what arrangements he is making to provide assistance to farmers with land in the original less-favoured areas which has so far been excluded from less-favoured area benefits.

Mr. Jopling

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales and I are inviting farmers with land within the boundary line of the original LFAs, which has so far been excluded from any LFA benefit, to write to their local divisional office of the Ministry or the Welsh Office giving details of the location of the land and asking for it to be reassessed. We shall then consider, in the light of these reassessments, and the introduction of special aid to farmers in the new LFAs, whether individual areas of land should in future qualify for some level of LFA support.
